Research the benefits of Gradient Mapping

Gradient mapping is a tool and application used in Photoshop. According to the website Guide to Gradient Maps in Photoshop | Envira Gallery it is:

"There are two main ways you can use Photoshop CC’s Gradient maps tools. You can color grade images as an overlay, and color replace an image with multiple, usually two, tones. Color replacing includes black and white images, but this tool allows you to choose any two colors rather than the base two tonalities"

The advantage of this process is creating black and white images from colour images. This offers contrast and mood to images. FROM

As we can see, the possible applications are varied and on reflection, has been used by even Andy Warhol in his shades of Marilyn Monroe collage of the 1960s. A less sophisticated process then Photoshop but still the same process. The process then allows a much more abstract colour to any images.

Finally, GIMP have created a GM application also. Therefore, now this application is not just seen on Photoshop.
