Russian Artist Platon Yurich

Planton Yurich is a Russian artist, photographer, who is known for creating images that are surreal and show mans connection with nature. His images show a world that is dreamlike, where man is at one with the elements and he has adapted to them. His motive is to evoke the viewer to question their reality.

Planton has had some notable jobs in his time. He has work for John Kennedy (son of JFK), Nike and Motorola to name a few. He left St Martins College and did portraiture and fashion photographer. During this time he found his reason to create art was to highlight inequality.

He founded "The Peoples Portfolio" which highlights civil and human rights cases where individuals face oppression such as females facing sexual violence in the Congo. Also, those facing political oppression in Russia.

In looking at Plantons work, I see a lot of digital manipulation that is not just done to encourage consumers to buy. Rather than being used for purly shallow reasons, Platon Yurich encourages the viewer to question every aspect of their existence and even to highlight global inequality.
