Cloning Tool-use in removing undesired marks.
Todays task was to remove the blemishes like spots from a models face. We used the spot heading tool (marked as a plaster on Photoshop)We simply brushed over areas to remove spots. I found this process interesting and quite easy to navigate.
Next we used the patch tool to access the cloning tool. This tool duplicates areas from other areas where unsightly marks are (in our example, creases on the paper). I was surprised by how useful and easy the whole process was.
Finally, we used the healing brush. This process I found difficult to navigate and I think extra effort may be needed to experiment with this resource in the future.
In terms of this applications use in a social context, I can see the benefits of removing imperfections that the photographer did not want on the image. This creates then a sense of perfection. However, I am concerned that such applications create an unreal expectation of the world that those viewing such images have to live up too. For example, to enter the world of modelling, the industry only wants models who are perfect in every sense.
